Raised in the small farming community of Firebaugh, located in rural Fresno County,
Ms. Rozanne Hernandez has always embodied the values of hard work, perseverance, and community. Growing up, she witnessed the dedication of her parents, whose strong work ethic instilled in her qualities that would shape her educational journey and career.
Though she has lived in various counties across California’s Central Valley, Hernandez has always remained deeply connected to her roots.
Her career in education began early, starting as a substitute teacher in her home district as well as in several other rural school districts along the west side of the San Joaquin River.
Hernandez’s path in higher education started at West Hills Community College
District, where she not only worked but also once attended as a student. Her early roles included serving as a case manager in workforce development programs and job
placement, and she later advanced to manage regional projects and prison education programs.
Hernandez’s first tenure at Bakersfield College began as the Program Manager for
Career Technical Education Programs, a position she held for two years. From there,
she moved to the State Center Community College District in Fresno, where she served
as the District Dean of Workforce Development and Adult Education. In this leadership role, Hernandez collaborated with multiple colleges—including Fresno City College, Madera Community College, Clovis Community College, and Reedley College—to enhance career education and strengthen industry partnerships. She was also responsible for overseeing apprenticeship and adult education programs.
Today, Hernandez brings over 15 years of experience in higher education and academic administration back to Bakersfield College as the Dean of Instruction for Career Technical Education. Driven by a passion for community engagement and a deep understanding of industry needs, she is dedicated to enhancing existing programs, ensuring they meet current industry standards, and fostering collaboration among faculty, staff, and administration.
